In a bid to empower learners and support education, a Chikwawa based organisation, Community Focus (COFO) has distributed books and pens to 111 learners at Mantchombe Primary School in the district.
COFO executive director Joshua Malunga has told ProjectM in an interview that the organisation decided to donate as one way of supporting education in Chikwawa District.
“This initiative is aimed at supporting student’s education as we strive to empower youths who are of course leaders of tomorrow,” he said.
Malunga said the donation is also part of COFO’s sponsorship program which is aimed at empowering students from various primary schools in Chikwawa.
“This donation, obviously demonstrates our commitment to empowering students and supporting education,” said Malunga.
COFO has since urged the learners to use the materials wisely, saying this will likely compel the organisation to donate more.
One of the beneficiaries, Kelvin Lawrence, thanked COFO for the donation, describing it as timely.
“This donation will enable me to achieve my academic goals this term and I thank COFO for its continued support,” said Lawrence.
