Chiradzulu Entrepreneur Rise to Success in Banana Farming

Chiradzulu-based visionary female entrepreneur, Leticia Simika is earning praise among her peers after she successfully ventured into Banana farming.

Simika is an owner of a large Banana plantation based in Mpira Village in the area of Traditional Authority Likoswe in Chiradzulu.

The 31-year-old said she started her farming venture in 2022 with a capital of K390,000.

“Using that money, I cleared an area large enough to plant 120 banana plants,” said Simika.

She said for the past 2 years, her farm has grown, a development that has also allowed her to plant over 300 extra banana plants.

“And right now, I am reaping the fruits of my labour by selling banana suckers and fruits,” said Simika.

Using profit generated from her business, Simika is able to support her four-member household.

“Together with my husband, we are planning to construct a new house and there is hope that this dream will be fulfilled very soon,” she added.

Agriculture expert and renowned organic farming enthusiast Maloto Chimkombero has hailed Simika, urging other women to emulate her exploits.

“Malawi needs women like her to progress and become self-reliant,” said Chimkombero.
