BUSINESS FIRM STEPS IN TO FOSTER FINANCIERS AND ENTERPRISES RELATIONSHIP

TT Business and Financial Limited says it is committed to creating an enabling environment for a robust cooperation between small scale and medium enterprises SMEs and financial institutions.

Chief Executive Officer for TT Business and Financial Limited McCider Katulukira said this as the organisation prepares to host an SMEs conference  on 9 May in Blantyre.

He told ProjectM that SMEs are a powerful tool for promoting inclusive economic growth critical to reducing poverty in the country.

Said Katulukira: “We want to enhance access to finance by SMEs through the bridging of information gap that exists between them and financiers. These groups lack strong operational systems that can spur growth in their businesses and we are committed to reviving the once vibrant sector and address some of the challenges facing the cooperative sector such as access to finance, building capacity and many more.”

He said SMEs will be oriented on how to build capacities within their operations and demonstrate capacity to utilise resources that they can get from lenders.

Katulukira adds: “If we are to talk about developing a middle income economy as a country, then SMEs cannot be ignored. Most businesses in Malawi belong to this category and the sector also caters for all types of services. This sector is a driver of economic development and employment creation because it contributes about 47% of the country’s GDP.”

He said at least 250 SME’s are earmarked to attend the conference.

Katulukira also encouraged active participation from the SMEs , cooperatives and stakeholders to use the opportunity to drive forward collaboration, saying access to finance affects all manners of institutions.

He said: ”Malawians should know that business success follows strong investment operational capacities to achieve our goals.

“It is not good to depend much on personalities, especially founders to grow businesses but we need to build operational capacities in order to get ready to soar to new heights in our businesses.”

Among facilitators of the meeting are C.E.O for TT Business and Financial Limited Katulukira as well as representatives from NBM Development Bank and National Economic Empowerment Fund Limited.
