BUDDING FEMALE WRITER PUBLISHES DEBUT BOOK

Violet Pondakwao, a 24-year-old writer from Dowa District has published a book titled “From a Girl to a Lady,” aimed at guiding women on their journey of personal growth and development.

The book explores the differences between a girl and a lady, offering advice on cultivating qualities that define a mature, dignified and purposeful woman.

The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) bachelor’s degree in Development Economics graduate hopes to inspire young women to become the best versions of themselves.

She said ‘From a Girl to a Lady” is a roadmap for young women seeking to grow into confident and self-assured individuals, leading to a greater sense of accomplishment and fulfilment.

The book targets women aged 12-29, but Violet encourages men to read it as well, to gain a deeper understanding of mature women and their thought processes.

Violet invested significantly in marketing and advertising to reach a wide audience both within Malawi and beyond.

She began working on the book in 2022 and completed it in 2023, with the book being released in 2024.

Violet’s inspiration for writing the book came from her own experiences and realise that there were many things she wasn’t told growing up.

Violet hopes to help young women navigate challenges such as toxic relationships, self-appreciation, and confidence-building.

Future plans for Violet include writing more books aimed at helping young women set foundations for effectively managing their lives. Her advice to those starting new endeavours is to persevere, as every step taken will be worth the effort in the end.
