The Lilongwe Area 30-based Blue Eagles on Saturday qualified for the 2024 FDH Bank Cup final after booting out TNM Super League Karonga United by two goals to zero.
Eagles, who were relegated last season from the TNM Super League, play in the second tier Chipiku Central Region Football Association Premier League.
Karonga United, who were favourites, came up with all the tactics to win but failed to overcome the Eagles.
The first half ended in a goalless draw and in the second half, Eagles approached the match with intention clear to win.
In the 50th minute, Sinto Chipole in an effort to clear the ball, ended up scoring in his own net to give Eagles the lead.
This goal motivated Eagles to fight and went on to reach the final
In the 55th minute, Eagles were awarded a penalty which Micium Mhone converted to extend the lead.
Both sides played harder in search of goals as Eagles pushed to extend the lead while Karonga chased to reduce the arrears.
Blue Eagles will play any of the TNM Super League winners between Moyale FC and defending champions FCB Nyasa Bullets this Wednesday.
Blue Eagles Coach Elia Kananji said he is delighted that his team has reached the FDH Bank Cup final.
“We are starting preparations for the finals knowing that Eagles will meet the second semi-finals winners between FCB Nyasa Bullets and Moyale FC,” he said.
Karonga United coach Oscar Kaunda said his charges did not play to the plan.
