Bereu Baptist Church women group has cheered prisoners at Chikwawa Prison with assorted items worth MWK200,000 to the prisoners in the district.
Chairperson for the women,Dyna Limani said the aim of the visit was to encourage the inmates to strengthen their spiritually.
Limani told ProjectM that the women group felt to present out the little the women contributed towards the purchase of the assorted items.
” We have given out items such as sugar, soap,salt and soya pieces worth MWK200,000,” she said.
Chikwawa Prison Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Jackson has hailed the women group for paying a visit to the prison.
He said the visit has come at good time which shows love to the prisoners.
Jackson has since appealed to others to come forward to emulate the gesture of the Bereu Baptist Church women group.
According to the PRO Chikwawa Prison has 374 prisoners of which all are males as of 18th May,2024.
