BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS, YOUTHS ADVISED

Dowa based-youthful entrepreneur Patrick Foloman Banda is on course to become one of the country’s successful entrepreneurs after he successfully established a farm at his home village.

Banda, 29, is the the founder of Takondwa Horticulture Enterprise which is located at Mtata village, approximately 20 kilometers west of Dowa Boma..

The farm is home to a vast kind of fruit tree seedlings that are grafted and ungrafted.

Part of the farm has also been turned into an Orchard that provides not only fruits, but also a stunning view to passersby.

“Our farm has seedlings for all kind of fruits including Mangoes, Oranges, Tangerines, Guavas, Pawpaws, Macadamia nuts and all trees you can think of,” Banda said.

He ventured into farming in 2016, soon after completing his Secondary school education.

Banda’s zeal to conserve the environment is what inspired him to establish the farm.

“I’ve always wanted to take part in various environmental conservation programmes and as part of fulfilling my part, I established this farm,” said Banda.

Through his venture, Banda has managed to employ 6 people, a development he says has been made possible due to the profit he makes.

“My vision is to establish a fruit juice manufacturing company as one way of diversifying my business,” He added.

The farm produces over 80,000 tree seedlings per month, with a large quantity of the seedlings sold to customers in Dowa, Lilongwe and other districts across Malawi.

Environmental activist Maloto Chimkombero has applauded Banda, calling his entreprenuership journey as amazing.
