BEAUTY THERAPY EARNS ENTREPRENEUR K600 000 MONTHLY

The owner of Brows and Lashes Beauty School and Parlour, Clara Gondwe is excelling in various areas of the beauty industry, earning K600, 000 monthly.
Gondwe is a Diploma holder in Cosmetology obtained from Don Bosco Technical College in 2012.

Cosmetology is the study and application of beauty treatments, including hair styling, skincare, makeup and nail care.

The entrepreneur told ProjectM that after obtaining her diploma, she worked in Malawi for close to two years and later left the country for United Arab Emirates (Dubai), where she worked for 10 years in the beauty industry.

The multi-talented cosmetologist said her experience in that country made her realise that most people lack some skills to meet international standards.

It is against this background that motivated her to come back home and teach young people who aspire to become cosmetologists.

On top of this, Gondwe`s school offers different courses such as make up facial treatments and skin care, nail care and enhancement, waxing and hair removal techniques, brow lamination, female intimate waxing, tinting.

“We are committed to providing exceptional services to our clients mainly women and children. We use the highest organic products to ensure that our customers get the best treatment. We have been into this business venture for two years and judging from what we do, it is evident that we belong to the beauty industry,” said Gondwe.

One of the challenges that Gondwe faces with her line of work is limited access to quality and beauty products, including equipment which have been exacerbated by importing costs and limited local suppliers.

Through her business, Gondwe has employed six people to assist in running the business. She has also managed to pay fees for her two children up to tertiary level and her last born child is studying at the Catholic University of Malawi.

“To young and aspiring cosmetologists, please remember that entrepreneurship is a journey that has challenges as well as opportunities. One needs to be courageous, resilient and focused on his or her vision and values,” she said.

On her part, Sarah Milanzi one of the interns, said she has been equipped with skills to provide best services.
