The COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB)-Malawi Chapter has tipped female entrepreneurs to be in the forefront in the day-to-day running of the country’s economic affairs.
The remarks were made on Wednesday in Blantyre during a business training session for female entrepreneurs from the Southern Region of the country.
COMFWB-Malawi chapter assistant liaison officer, Yamikani Kutengule said the training was organised to among others, equip female entrepreneurs with knowledge on how they can expand their businesses.
“Our main goal today is to equip these women with confidence and technical expertise needed to boost their businesses,” she said.
Kutengule said the training will also help the entreprenuers generate extra income and wealth needed to benefit communities they are operating from.
“We have brought in here various stakeholders, including officials from the Ministry of Trade and Malawi Revenue Authority to offer assistance on issues of taxation, trading and business growth,” said Kutengule.
One of the participants, Christina Chabwera has commended COMFWB Malawi chapter for organising the training saying it has been an eye opener.
“I would like to thank this organisation for giving me this opportunity, it was really an eye opener,” she said .
The training, supported by Graca Machel Trust, drew 15 female entrepreneurs who are members of COMFWB Malawi Chapter.
