Salvation for All Ministries International founder and leader Apostle Clifford Kawinga has urged Malawians to adopt irrigation technology to enhance productivity and ensure food security in the country.
Kawinga made this call while distributing relief food items to approximately 4,000 people affected by hunger due to climate-induced weather shocks in the Zomba District.
“Rain-fed agriculture is no longer a viable solution to avert a potential hunger crisis in the country. There is a need for stronger commitments to food access and sustainable agriculture to end this crisis that has rocked our country,” he said.
Kawinga is calling upon the government, NGOs and people of goodwill to support those willing to venture into climate-smart solutions and sustainable farming practices but lack access to resources.
This support is crucial in building a more resilient food security system for the future.
Senior Chief Malemia expressed gratitude to Kawinga and his ministry for the timely support.
Malemia also sounded the alarm on the growing hunger crisis in his area, calling for urgent and coordinated action to tackle food insecurity affecting thousands nationwide.
One of the beneficiaries, Bayina Tambula, praised Kawinga’s Ministry for offering them food.
She said: “As a family, we have been eating porridge for many days, and sometimes we sleep on empty stomachs. Every small act of kindness makes a huge difference in our families.
“We are calling upon others to help us with the little they have to meet the essential needs of our families.”
Since last year, Apostle Clifford Kawinga and Salvation for All Ministries have been distributing relief items, including maize flour, to hunger-stricken families across the country.
