As the country continues to make strides in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), a 27-year-old, third year student at Malawi Adventist University, Yohane Chepe has developed an AI face-based attendance registration system.
An AI face-based attendance system is a technology that utilises Artificial Intelligence (AI) and facial recognition algorithms to record and manage attendance data through use of cameras.
Chepe told ProjectM in an interview that the system will help to manage attendance management in schools, companies and other organisations.
“The aim is to leverage technology to streamline attendance management processes, improve accuracy and efficiency, enhance security, unlock new possibilities for data analysis and decision-making,” he said.
Chepe said objectives of the system vary depending on the specific needs and context of the organisation or institution implementing this system.
He said: “Organisations can realise benefits such as improved operational efficiency, enhanced security, better data-driven decision-making and a more convenient and seamless experience for attendees.
“The system has already been donated to schools. We have already started a donation exercise with a few schools within Ntcheu. But because most schools are now on holiday we are planning to resume once they open.”
Chepe plans to donate the system in the country’s schools in a bid to improve attendance efficiency.
