NSANJE INTRODUCES CRICKET IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Nsanje District has taken an initiative to develop cricket in the district’s primary schools.

District Sports Officer (DSO) for Nsanje Sheriff Malunga has confirmed the development, saying sports masters and mistress were drawn across the district for training at Nyamadzere Teacher Development Centre (TDC) in the district.

Malunga told ProjectM that there were 50 teachers who were trained in cricket coaching.

“We wanted all the 13 educational zones across the district been trained,” he said.

The DSO was quick to reveal that the trained teachers are expected to train others in their respective education zones in Nsanje.

However, the Sports Officer has since urged the government, non-state actors to provide materials for the smooth running of the discipline in the schools.

Proprietor of Gombeza Sports Academy, Isaiah Gombeza has hailed government’s commitment in the introduction of Cricket Sporting Programme in the district.

He, however, said they need training materials for the implemention of the initiative.

“Let us support the initiative for it to spread quickly in the district,” said Gombeza.
