Mubas Choir Hosts Fundraising Concert

Malawi University of Business and Applied (Mubas) Choir has organised a choir concert on Saturday to be held in the Odel Auditorium on the institution’s main campus.

The choir’s chairperson Harry Banda said in an interview, the aim of the concert is to raise funds to buy instruments to boost the image of the group and make it known that it can be hired.

Said Banda: “This is a big event as we would like people to know that we have a great university choir which is available for hiring to perform at public and private events.  Apart from performing at our institution’s events such as graduation, we also perform at private events, but most people are not aware of this.

“Other choirs from the campus will also perform. Dr Flemmings Ngwira, who is Head of Language and Communication Studies for the school and is a well-known musician, will perform.”

He also said the concert would be used to raise funds aimed at buying some music instruments.

“Whenever we have an event, we normally book instruments because the choir also uses instruments when singing,” said Banda.

The group’s chairperson appealed to the students and general public to

patronise the event and get a rare treat of choral music experience.

“This is going to be a great day and the confirmation of high-profile people, including the Vice-Chancellor Associate Professor Nancy Chitera’s attendance, will be the icing on the cake,” he said.
