Mzuzu Family Donates K6 Million Worth of Cabbage to Prison, Hospital

A farming family based in Mzuzu, the Gerald Kamanga family, has donated 7,000 heads of cabbage worth over K6 million to Mzuzu City Council for distribution to various institutions in the city.

The donation will benefit Mzuzu Prison, Mzuzu Central Hospital and other institutions that are under the council’s care.

In an interview, family head Gerald Kamanga said the gesture was motivated by faith and the desire to give back to God.

He cited the Bible in the book of Matthew 25:43 which says, “I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit.”

Kamanga said his family felt compelled to act on the scripture by sharing what they have harvested from their farm.

“We made this donation as a way of giving back to God,” said Kamanga.

He further urged other well-wishers to support those in need with whatever little they have.

Commenting on the gesture, Mzuzu City Mayor, His Worship Chimbekezo Moses, thanked the family for the timely support.

“We thank the Kamanga family for this generous donation which will go a long way in supporting our institutions,” said the Mayor through his Facebook post.
