Standard Bank Donates K7m Equipment To Limbe Health Centre

Standard Bank has donated medical equipment valued at K7 million.

During the donation held on Saturday, it was revealed that the centre, which serves 10,000 patients, lacks basic equipment including wheelchairs.

The donation included two wheelchairs, stretchers, mattresses, blood pressure machines and other essential supplies would help health workers to ease their work as well as improve patients care.

Speaking during the event, the bank’s Head of Client Coverage Ewen Hiwa said the support was in line with its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“We believe that Malawi’s growth depends on the wellbeing of its people. By supporting healthcare access and infrastructure, we are contributing to the aspirations of Malawi’s (Vision) 2063 and moving positively towards attaining the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” said Hiwa.

District Medical Officer for Blantyre, Dr Hawa Mtilimila commended Standard Bank, saying it will improve services at the facility.

She also appealed for more help from the corporate and well-wishers to address many problems that health workers faces at the facility to serve patients better.
