Chikwawa Women Benefit from Vegetable Seeds Donation

Chikwawa based organisation, Community Focus (COFO) has donated vegetable seeds worth K2.4 million to 13 women in the district.

The donation targeted women who are members of “Tidziwane”, a women’s forum that promotes unity, entrepreneurship and mindset change among women in the district.

COFO Executive Director, Joshua Malunga has told ProjectM in an interview that the organisation donated the seeds to promote mindset change among the women to produce vegetables.

“This donation is expected to boost their income and help with daily needs, bringing a sense of financial stability to their lives,” he said.

Malunga said the donation also symbolises what the organisation believes, which is empowering people by giving them tools for survival.

“We believe giving them this donation gives them an opportunity to understand the importance of becoming self-reliant rather than waiting for donation every time,” said Malunga.

The donation targeted women whose families were affected by natural disasters in the last growing season.

The donation includes Chinese Vegetable seeds and Rape vegetable seeds.

A representative of the grouping has since thanked COFO, describing the donation as timely.

“We appreciate COFO’s kindness because with these seeds, we have been empowered to take charge of our financial future,” she said.
