The World Vision Malawi says it will implement a goat-pass-on programme in its Nyachipele Catchment in Senior Chief Chimombo’s area in Nsanje as one way of improving the social economic and health status of the communities.

Project Coordinator for Nyachipele, David Ng’ambi said his organisation, which started working in the said area last year, noted the need to empower the people economically and healthy through the goat pass on initiative.

He disclosed that part of World Vision Malawi’s 2023/24 Budget of about US$315,000 will go towards the implementation of the initiative.

Ng’ambi told ProjectM that a total of 800 goats are going to be distributed at household levels in the catchment area.

“Each family is going to receive four goats translating to 200 households as starter pack of the programme,” he said.

The project coordinator added that this is going to help children for them to be food secured, good health and become productive citizens.

In his remarks, Senior Chief Chimombo hailed World Vision Malawi for the initiative, saying it will transform people economically.

He noted that the arrival of this organisation many things have begun changing in the area.

“The livelihoods of my subjects have completely changed than before saying it was the most regarding in terms of developmental projects in the district,” he said.

This is the second catchment area for the World Vision to implement developmental projects after the area of Senior Chief Mlolo in the district.
