Sixty learners from Mantchombe Primary School in Chikwawa district can now breathe a sigh of relief after a non-governmental organisation, Community Focus (COFO) to donated school materials.
Among others, COFO has given the learners school uniforms and a pair of school shoes each.
COFO executive director Joshua Malunga has told ProjectM in an interview that the organisation made the donation to inspire learners to concentrate on their studies.
“It is our wish as COFO to see learners perform well in school and donating these materials is part of ensuring that every learner is not left behind,” he said.
Malunga urged the beneficiaries to work hard in their studies, saying this will motivate his organisation to make more donations.
“If these learners perform well in class, we will definitely be compelled to donate even more and we will be happy,” said Malunga.
Mantchombe Primary School headteacher Philip Antonio expressed his gratitude with the donation, saying it will help learners stay in school.
“Our learners will now work hard in class and this will in turn translate into better results,” said Antonio.
One of the beneficiaries, who declined to be mentioned, thanked the organisation for its continued support.
“I have benefited a lot from the support COFO gives me and I am really glad,” she said.
