Mchinji-based seasoned female agripreneur, Judith Hare has achieved success through farming.
Hare, based in Mpazi Village in Traditional Authority Mkanda has combined her agricultural expertise with business acumen to develop a sustainable, profitable and progressive business ventures.
The 50-year-old farmer has been cultivating Soybeans for over 22 years, a business she says has turned her life around economically.
“I have been into Soybeans cultivation for a long time and I can confidently say I am an expert,” said Hare.
Through her farming, Hare has made so much profit, a development she says has also enabled her to build 6 houses, ultimately turning her into a real estate owner.
“Over the years, I decided to diversify by venturing into property development and that has turned me into a landlady,” said Hare.
Asked on what prompted her to venture into farming and succeed, Hare was quick to mention discipline and hardwork as the key pillars of her Success.
“Apart from that, you also need to have the nose for market. That is to exactly know where and when to sell your harvests,” she added.
Hare’s success has earned her recognition from stakeholders who have made her a lead farmer under Mkanda Association of Farmers.
The National Smallholder Farmers Association of Malawi (NASFAM) Chief Executive Officer DR Betty Chinyamunyamu saluted Hare for her dedication to farming.
“As NASFAM, we took note of her hardworking spirit long time ago and that prompted us to support her. I am glad our support has also paid off,” said Chinyamunyamu.
Going forward, Hare wants to use her expertise to entice more women into entrepreneurship.
