Man On Crusade Against Climate Change

Entrepreneur-cum environmental conservationist, Daniel Chibwe has launched a one-man war against climate change.

Chibwe, who is also the founder of Mlatho AgriHub, an entity that specialises in permaculture farming, has planted over 1,000 tree-seedlings in the 2024-2025 tree-planting season.

The entreprenuer has indicated that he plans to plant over 5,000 tree-seedlings before the end of the current rainy season.

The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) graduate, whose exploits have also been extensively covered on ProjectM platforms, has also expanded his efforts by training young people in smart agriculture technologies.

“My wish is to implement projects that are capable of leaving a lasting impact and tree-planting is one of those projects,” said Chibwe.

He said through his one-man tree planting exercise, he has managed to plant hundreds of trees around Mchinji boma, close to where his farm is located.

“This exercise is not only being done to conserve the environment but also showcase the effectiveness of permaculture and encourage biodiversity,” said Chibwe.

Currently, over 193 young people have already witnessed a share of Chibwe’s commitment in restoring environment.

“By the end of the day, these young people will be agents for change in their communities,” he added.

Youth activist and executive director of Chikwawa-based organisation, Community Focus (COFO), Joshua Malunga, has commended Chibwe, dubbing his exploits as extraordinary.

“Daniel Chibwe is the true son of Mchinji soil and this country needs people like him,” said Malunga.
