In Chiradzulu District, a determined female entrepreneur, Eles Dailesi is making a fortune through soap production.
Dailesi, based in Mtembo Village in Traditional Authority Chitera in Chiradzulu District, produces a laundry soap which is trading under the brand “Sharp Laundry Soap”.
She has indicated that her passion for soap making began in 2023 when she noticed a gap in the soap market.
“With the untapped demand and my willingness to take risks, I embarked on this journey and I am proud of it,” said Dailesi.
Sharp Laundry Soap production process involves procuring raw materials such as Soda ash, sodium bicarbonate, fatty acids, brighteners, colourants and other materials.
“I then carefully mix the ingredients to form a bar of soap which is then cut into small bars, ready for market,” said Dailesi.
Dailesi’s venture is slowly paying off as she is now making a profit of K24,000 per production cycle.
“My life has undergone a significant transformation as I am now able to support my family comfortably,” she added.
Going forward, Dailesi plans to expand her business by among others, producing Sharp Laundry Soap at an industrial scale.
“I am also in contact with the Malawi Bureau of Standards to have my product certified,” she said.
Small Scale Business Operators Association of Malawi executive director, Tennyson Mulimbula has hailed Dailesi for penetrating what he described as a tricky market sector.
“I would encourage her to continue with her vision,” said Mulimbula.
