VisionFund Malawi Wins Africa Award

VisionFund Malawi, a subsidiary of an non-government organisation, World Vision Malawi, was crowned the 2024 overall winner at the VisionFund International Africa Region Simba Awards in Dakar, Senegal.

VisionFund Malawi Head of Marketing and Communications Unkhaku Ng’oma said in an interview said Malawi emerged top in seven categories and third in another in the micro-finance institutions (MFI).

He said: “VisionFund Malawi has scooped eight awards including being the Best MFI in the Africa region which is not a mean achievement snatching from VisionFund Tanzania who were winners in 2023.

“We are the Best in Delivering on Budgets, Best in Increase in Number of Non-fast Clients, Best in Fast Group Clients, Best in Partnership Pioneers, Best in Portfolio Quality and Best in Profitability. Lastly, VisionFund Malawi came third in Risk Management Advocacy.”

Ng’oma said this feat should be celebrated among Malawians and give them confidence and trust as a reputable micro-finance lending institution.

He said the awards undermine the significant contributions of MFIs in promoting financial inclusion and economic development within their respective communities.

In her remarks, Vision Fund Malawi Chief Executive Officer Theodora Ntaba Ng’oma said they are committed to ensuring sustainable financial inclusion in Malawi for the country’s socio-economic development.

She said they have reached out to over 3,800 savings groups in the country due to collaborations the Fund does with other institutions.

VisionFund Malawi Chief Executive Officer Ntaba Ng’oma, Chief Operations Officer Donald Kadzamira and Chief Finance Officer Precious Nyondo represented Malawi at the awards in which 27 other African countries contested.
