From Errand boy to entrepreneur

Ndagha Mwahimba is a Lilongwe-based business owner who is into dish installation, photography as well as car wash business.

Mwahimba started as an assistant in both dish installation as well as photography business.

“I started dish installation business in 2009 as ‘nyamata wongothandizira’, (errand boy) then later I bought my own equipment. And for photography, I started in 2013, when I used to go for wedding shooting with my brother who inspired me to start photography,” he said.

Mwahimba`s dish installation venture is known as Ndagha dish installation where they offer dish Installation, cable tracking, TV mounting and Gotv installation. And for photography, it is known as NS Photography whereby they offer videography and photography services for any event.

Mwahimba is also into car wash business which is known as NS Car Wash which started in 2019. They offer car interior and exterior cleaning, carpet cleaning, engine washing, car shampooing and car detailing.

NS Car Wash is located in area 25, sector 7, near Skeffa Chimoto`s residence.

Currently, NS Car Wash has created job opportunities having employed four people.

Mwahimba told ProjectM that in business everyone faces challenges at some point, but one can endure and make them to grow their business.

“I have used negative remarks as an opportunity for business growth. I use the chance to assess my business and implement changes that address the concerns so that I should prevent similar issues in future which has helped me to grow my business,” he said.

Mwahimba has urged those that wish to start their own business to develop resilience and perseverance.

“Starting a business is a challenging journey that often involves setbacks and obstacles. It’s crucial to develop resilience and perseverance through tough times. Learn from failures, adapt your strategies and maintain a positive mindset. The road to success is rarely linear, but with determination and willingness to learn, you can overcome hurdles and achieve your goals,” he said.

Mwahimba revealed to ProjectM that he plans to become one of the leading car wash service providers in Area 25 then will extend it to Lilongwe and other districts in Malawi.
