Nsanje South West legislator Euritta Ntiza Valeta on Sunday handed over a K18.3 million Community Based Child Care Centre (CBCCC) facility to people in Traditional Authority Makoko in an effort to take care of young children in the district.
The Parliamentarian said that she decided to use the Constitutiency Development Fund (CDF) to build an early education centre for the children.
Valeta said most of under-six children are taken to gardens by their parents.
“Young children are exposed to bad environment; hence, the initiative to have a CBCCC as a solution to keep them busy,” she said.
The Parliamentrarian also said the centre has been furnished with chairs, tables, chalkboard, learning and playing toys for children just to mention but a few.
Nsanje District Social
Welfare Officer Chikumbutso Salifu has since urged the communities to utilise the centre.
“Take this as your property of the community where it will be assisting your own children before starting school in Standard One.
Group VillageHeadman Mulila hailed the MP for the building, saying parents will no longer be taking their children to gardens throughout the day.
” Our children will be full time at the centre throughout the day,” the traditional leader said.
