Female Entrepreneur Rise from Humble Beginnings to Poultry Success

Ntcheu based female entrepreneur, Nyayowe Kamwendo has become a symbol of success after she successfully ventured into poultry business.

Kamwendo is the founder and managing director of Thunyako Farm investments, a poultry business that has grown from a modest beginning to a now thriving business, supplying poultry products to the local market.

Her journey began a few years ago with a small flock of one hundred and fifty birds at her Senzani-based farm.

“Through dedication and zeal to succeed, we have managed to expand operations to accommodate over four thousand chickens,” Kamwendo said.

She said this has almost cemented her position as a reliable supplier of poultry products including meat, eggs and manure to customers in areas such as Senzani, Manjawira and Phalura.

Through her business, Kamwendo has also created employment opportunities for others.

“Currently, we have four permanent employees who handle work at the farm,” said Kamwendo.

Her success has not gone unnoticed as the COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB)- Malawi chapter, in which she is also a member, has hailed her as an inspiration to other women.

“Her achievements serve as a testament to the potential for women to excel in entrepreneurship and make meaningful impact on the country’s economy,” said COMFWB assistant liaison officer, Yamikani Kutengule.

Meanwhile, Kamwendo has indicated that her vision is to see Thunyako Farm investments become the country’s largest supplier of poultry products.
