Priorities Executive Barbershop, founded by Tawina Likweta in 2023, redefines the grooming experience with a focus on quality, community and comfort.
Located near Kameza Roundabout in Blantyre, it addresses the lack of executive barbershops in the area, offering high-end grooming services like haircuts, hair tinting, and manicure-pedicure treatments.
Likweta, an entrepreneur with a background in agriculture, told ProjectM that he identified the need for premium grooming services in the area after noticing locals had to travel for quality options.
He said: “I started my business in 2021 while still in university, building it up with equipment from China. Even after encountering challenges of securing location the barbershop opened two years later.
“Our barbershop does not only focus on cutting hair but also providing an atmosphere that creates a good experience for customers.”
The barbershop’s modern, luxurious setting, paired with attentive customer service, creates a relaxing, upscale atmosphere that encourages both relaxation and community engagement.
The shop stands out through its commitment to customer satisfaction, offering value-added services such as free Wi-Fi, complimentary beverages and entertainment.
Likweta is focused on improvement, incorporating client feedback into the experience.
He also wants to expand services, including special grooming for weddings, which has boosted the business’s visibility and income.
Likweta is also exploring digital tools, such as an online booking platform, to enhance convenience and streamline operations.
“Beyond grooming, I am passionate about empowering my community and I am planning to start a mentorship programme for aspiring barbers,” he said.
Despite challenges such as finding skilled barbers and economic fluctuations, Likweta has persevered to deliver quality service.
His goal is to expand the business to other districts, aiming to grow Priorities Executive Barbershop into a leading brand in the industry.
