The construction of a new operation theatre at Chintheche Rural Hospital is on course and brings hope to local communities for improved healthcare services.
According to Group Village Head Mutepelera, the new operation theatre project, to cost K366 million, will be a game-changer for the community.
“With the contractors working at a rapid pace, we are optimistic that the project will be completed soon,” he said.
The operation theatre is expected to serve not only the people of Chintheche but also surrounding communities.
Councillor Spencer Khuni expressed his gratitude to the government for considering the project which will improve emergency care, surgical capabilities and reduce healthcare costs.
Technical Supervisor for Public Works in Nkhata Bay, William Gondwe, said the project is is expected to be finished within four months.
“We are impressed with the quality of work and materials used. We will continue to monitor the project until it is completed,” he said.
The construction of the operation theatre is being undertaken by CLADS Construction company, with funding from the Malawi Government through the National Local Government Finance Committee (NLGFC). The total cost of the project is K366 million.
Once completed, the new operation theatre is expected to significantly improve healthcare services in the area, saving lives and improving the overall well-being of the community.
