A groundbreaking innovation in agricultural technology is poised to revolutionise farming in the country.
The fertilizer Processing Machine, invented by Innocent Mandili, Founder and CEO of MI Technologies and Innovation, is a game-changing solution that transforms organic waste into high-quality fertiliser.
The machine uses locally available materials such as manure and grass, blending and granulating them into nutrient-rich granules.
The result is a cost-effective alternative to chemical fertilizers that improves soil health and boosts crop yields.
“The Fertilizer Processor Machine is designed to simplify the fertilizer production process, making it easier and more affordable for farmers to produce their own fertiliser.
“This innovation has the potential to transform the agricultural sector in Malawi, improving food security and empowering farmers,” said Mandili.
Peter Mwitha, an agricultural expert, praised the innovation, saying: “The Fertilizer Processor Machine is a timely solution to the challenges faced by Malawian farmers. By providing a cost-effective and sustainable way to produce fertilizer, this machine has the potential to increase crop yields, improve soil health and enhance food security in the country.”
The machine’s impact has already been acknowledged, with Mandili earning the ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM) Innovation Award as the Second Winner.
This accolade underlines the critical role of local technological solutions in addressing pressing agricultural and environmental challenges.
With the Fertilizer Processing Machine, Mandili said he is driving sustainable farming practices, empowering farmers to contribute to food security in Malawi.
