Care and Share Donates to Chiringa Health Centre

Chiringa Maternity in Phalombe district has received a significant boost in its healthcare delivery following a donation from Care and Share, a faith-based organisation operating in the district.

The organisation in partnership with CWP Energy, has provided essential medical equipment and constructed a three-room bathroom facility, addressing critical gaps at the facility.

The donation announced by Care and Share’s Project Coordinator Blessings Chikopa, includes a wheelchair, examination couch, fetal doppler, electric fan, and a ward trolley.

These items are expected to improve the quality of care provided to expectant mothers and other patients at Chiringa Maternity.

“The donation aims at addressing the numerous challenges faced by the health facility. We believe that every mother and child deserves the best care possible, and these contributions are a step toward achieving that,” said Chikopa.

The addition of the three-room bathroom facility marks another milestone in improving hygiene and privacy for patients, a long-standing challenge for the maternity ward.

Edda Kumakanga, the facility’s nurse and midwife technician, expressed gratitude for the timely intervention.

“This donation will transform how we operate and enhance the care we provide to mothers and babies. It could not have come at a better time,” she said.

Chiringa Maternity has struggled with limited resources, impacting its ability to meet the needs of its patients effectively.

The provision of modern equipment such as the fetal doppler and examination couch is expected to improve diagnostic and treatment processes, ensuring safer deliveries and better maternal health outcomes.

Care and Share’s dedication to community welfare continues to inspire hope and make tangible differences in the lives of many.
