Malawi’s literary scene has added ‘Chipwadza’ , a new poetry book authored by renowned poet Felix Kamwendo.
Also known as “Ochisale” in poetry circles, the poet has described the book as a game-changer in the country’s literary world.
He has told ProjectM in an interview that the book carries a message of hope and perseverance, themes he described as relevant to Malawians.
“The book contains 52 poems, each one a masterful exploration of the human condition and certainly, a work of art,” said Kamwendo.
His vision to see the country’s poetry growing is what inspired him to author the book.
“It is my wish to see the country’s poetry growing, recognized, celebrated and I believe that the coming in of Chipwadza is a step in the right direction,” said Kamwendo.
The poet has since appealed to Malawians to read the book which is set to be launched on 14 December 2024.
The anthology will soon be available in selected book stores across the country.
Meanwhile, renowned poet and general secretary for Poetry Association of Malawi Patwell Phiri commended Kamwendo for putting the country’s poetry industry on the map.
“His unique creativity and perspective is a welcome addition to the country’s literatore,” said Phiri.
Kamwendo has joined a club of renowned poetry authors, including the legendary Benedicto Wokomaatani Malunga, who have authored poetry books.
