Water and Sanitation Minister Abida Sidik Mia has urged use of clean and safe water for the communities during the rainy season.
She made the sentiments on Sunday when presented borehole spare parts in her Chikwawa Nkombezi Constituency in Chikwawa district.
Mia said the accessories will help the communities to continue to access clean water throughout the year.
The minister told ProjectM that the borehole spare parts will to avoid breakdowns of boreholes; hence, leading to breakdown of boreholes leading to using of safe water.
“Let us always be using clean and safe water all the times in order to prevent water borne diseases such as Cholera,” she said.
Mia, who is also the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Second Vice-President assured the people in the constituency that she will continue providing boreholes accessories.
Earlier a community member Kaswada Saopa hailed the minister for her support of provision of spares for the boreholes.
He said the provision of portable water is the only remedy of curbing water borne diseases especially during the rainy season.
“It is the efforts of the government through the Members of Parliament for supporting the locals to access clean and safe water,” Saopa said.
Speaking to a mother of three, Cecilia Thomas from the area of Senior Chief Ngabu has expressed satisfaction of drinking safe water.
She applauded Mia is doing her roles both as MP and minister in serving the communities to have an access to safe water.
