Chiputula-based Community Savings and Investment Promotion (Comsip) has donated 100 desks worth K3.5 million to Chiputula Primary School in Mzuzu.
The pupils can now afford a smile as the donation has come as a way of addressing shortage of desks at the school.
Speaking in an interview, Albert Kuwali, Chairperson of the group said the donation in a bid to offer solutions to some of the challenges in their community.
“Members of our group took part of their earnings from the group and bought the desks realising that students have been sitting on the floor during classes, a development that affects students especially females. It is for this reason we came in to respond,” he said.
In his remarks, District Education Officer for Mzuzu City hailed Comsip for the donation.
“This donation will help promote education at the school as this is a motivation to the students. We are grateful for this donation as it will go along way in improving education,” he said.
He called upon parents to make sure all students are in school even as the country attains Malawi 2063 education pillar.
