Mzuzu Central Hospital Takes Proactive Steps to Combat Malnutrition

In response to a surge in malnutrition cases, Mzuzu Central Hospital has launched a comprehensive initiative to educate the community on healthy eating habits and provide essential nutrition support.

According to hospital records, 35 people have been diagnosed with malnutrition in the pediatric department. However, hospital spokesperson Arnold Kayira said the hospital is taking proactive steps to address the issue.

“We been doing all thing possible it’s just worrisome that the number keep increasing but we doing everything to control it,” he explained.

The hospital’s initiative includes community outreach programmes, nutrition counseling, and partnerships with local organizations to provide essential nutrition support.

“We are committed to providing the best possible care to our patients, and that includes educating the community on healthy eating habits, we urge people to consume a balanced diet to prevent malnutrition and other related health issues,” said Kayira
