PIL DONATES K7.8M SOLAR-POWERED WATER PUMP

Communities around Lulwe Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Nsanje will have access to safe and clean water following Petroleum Importers Limited’s (PIL) donation of a solar-powered water pump valued K7.8 million.

General Manager for Petroleum Importers Limited Martin Msimuko said people in the area were facing problems to access safe water.

Msimuko said the installation of a solar-powered water pump will help to supply clean water to the students and the communities.

“Water will not only benefit the students but also the health facility plus the surrounding areas,” said the manager.

Headteacher for the school, Nasho Simbi hailed PIL for bailing them out of the water challenges which has been a problem for a long time.

“Water is no longer a problem as students will be accessing it right on campus will also improve education,” said the headteacher.

Zabere Alumando observed that women and girls were waking long distances to fetch for water which was putting their lives at risk

“We used to walk long distance to fetch for water but now we have been bailed out,” said Alumando.

PIL is a consortium of four companies in Malawi, namely TotalEnergy, Puma, Petroda and Vivo Energy.
