MINISTRY OF EDUCATION PRIMARY SCHOOL COMIC BOOK

The Ministry of Education Science and Technology has introduced Malawi 2063 Comic Book in primary schools to help in changing the mindset of learners at tender age to have vision for the country’s development.

The secretary for Ministry of Education Science and Technology Dr Mangani Katundu said on Wednesday during the launch of M2063 Comic Book at Mponda 2 Primary School in Dowa District.

Speaking to ProjectM, Katundu said there are various ways one can apply to reach out to different groups of people.

“The use of comics books is one of the best ways which can influence and attract the interest of children,” he said.

The secretary thanked the National Planning Commission (NPC) for coming up with the M2063 comic books in primary schools.

Director General for NPC Dr Thomas Chataghaghala Munthali said they decided to come up with a comic book in different languages to enable young children to start understanding and embracing MW 2063 vision at the tender age.

“We want to reach out to all 6,000 primary schools across the country as we have plan to give out 100 copies to each school, but we have only 10,000 copies which are not enough,” he explained.

UNICEF Country Representative Shadreck Omol said UNICEF is committed to partnering with the government in making sure that learners in primary schools understand and get involved in development aspirations of Malawi.

The National Planning Commission and Ministry of Education have developed the MW 2063 Comic Book for primary schools in 2022.
