At just 24 years old, Hudson Mwangalika, a graduate in Electrical Engineering from the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), has made a name as a innovator.
His latest brainchild, HB Space TL, has developed a premises security system.
This advanced technology include Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors, GSM/SMS or internet connectivity and optional image capture and video recording.
In an interview with ProjectM, Mwangalika said that the system detects movement within a 12-metre radius and 180-degree range, triggering alarms, alerts and outdoor lights.
“Our security system is designed to provide peace of mind for property owners,we have made sure it’s affordable, effective, and easy to use,” he explained.
Mwangalika further said that the gadget has undergone successful pilot tests with local businesses and residential clients.
The company has refined the system based on feedback and performance data.
Chikondi Kamwendo, a local business owner, praises HB Space TL’s security system, saying this will help contain theft in the shops as well as offices and homes.
Meanwhile, Mwangalika’s dream is to make Malawi a safer place, secure home and business while creating jobs and stimulate local economic growth through its manufacturing and distribution network.
“We cannot develop if the country is not safe for business. So, we have to make sure that the tendency of theft is gone for good for us to develop,” he said.
Through manufacturing and distribution network, Mwangalika believes to expand the product line will address cyber threats.
