In response to a financial support plea, Sparc Systems has doubled its donation to K15 million to Beit Cure International Hospital Malawi for surgeries of 80 children with disabilities.
Speaking in an interview after the handover ceremony, the firm’s Managing Director Wisely Phiri said they were moved to do their donation as part of social responsibility.
“This is part of our contribution to the community. We made the same donation last year and we also saw children being assisted. Our aim is for this hospital to be able to serve to hard-to-reach areas,” he said.
Last year, Sparc Systems made a donation of K6 Million to go towards 70 children that needed operation.
In his remarks, Beit Cure Director of Programmes Davie Simwaka thanked Sparc Systems for the support of vulnerable children.
“We started the fundraising so that we could support the children that need help,” he said.
According to Simwenga, the organisation planned to reach 2300 children this year and it has managed to reach 2220 with 80 remaining.
Mwinga said it costs about K2.9 million to perform a surgery on a child.
Meanwhile, the organisation plans to raise K210 million to perform surgeries on 80 children.
