UMTHETHO CULTURAL FESTIVAL GETS A BOOST

FDH Bank PLC and Chibuku products limited have made a donation of k15 million and k1.5 million, respectively, towards the Umthetho Cultural Festival scheduled for 1-3 August at Hora mountain in Mzimba district.

Speaking Wednesday in Blantyre when he was presenting a cheque to organizers of the festival, FDH Bank PLC head of communications and marketing Levie Nkunika said the bank has decided to make the donation as one way of supporting cultural preservation.

“As a homegrown Bank, we value the essence of Cultural preservation ,” Nkunika said.

And speaking when he was presenting a cheque, Chibuku products limited managing director Gerald Bowler said the company has decided to make the donation after noticing the huge contribution the festival has been making in preserving culture.

“Supporting this festival is in line with our core values as we believe in honoring cultural contributions,” said Bowler.

Umthetho Cultural Festival lead organizer Sangwani Hara commended the two companies for making the donations, saying the contributions will go a long way towards ensuring that the festival has lived to its billing.

“These are companies that have been operating in Malawi for a long time and we thank them for honoring us,” said Hara.

Guest of honour for the event is the reigning King of the Zulu Nation, Misuzulu Sinqobile KaZwelithini of South Africa.

The festival has also attracted guests from other African countries, including Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe just to mention a few.

President Lazarus Chakwera is also expected to attend the event on Saturday.
