BUSINESS WOMEN URGED TO EMBRACE INNOVATION

The COMESA Federation of National Association of Women in Business (COMFWB)-Malawi chapter has advised women in the country to embrace innovation in a bid to maximise profits they make through their businesses.

The chapter has also implored women to follow necessary guidelines prescribed by the law in the day-to-day running of operations.

The federation’s chairperson responsible for Malawi, Selina Mwenelupembe made the remarks Friday in Lilongwe during a special get-together which brought together business women from Lilongwe.

She told ProjectM that the function was also organised for business women to have a chance to interact with each other.

“This meeting was called to give an opportunity to our members to share notes and discuss possible solutions to various challenges rocking the business sector,” said Mwenelupembe.

She added that during the meeting, women entrepreneurs were also guided on the steps they can take to start producing and exporting products in countries in the COMESA region.

“We also had an opportunity to share guidelines on how our products can compete on the international market,” said Mwenelupembe.

One of the participants at the gathering, Deborah Tengatenga-Odala commended COMFWB for organising the function.

“This meeting has really benefited me because I have leant a lot from colleagues who are also into business,” said Odala.

Meanwhile, COMFWB has urged women in the country to venture into entrepreneurship, saying time has come for women to solidify their stand in the business circles
