Organizers of the Mulanje peaks and rhythms festival have revealed that this year’s festival will be held from August 30th to September 1st in Mulanje District.
Speaking in an interview with ProjectM, the festivals director Michael Kwapata said the event is aimed at celebrating cultural diversity and tourism.
“This is a vibrant activity that will bring together the community to showcase our rich cultures whereas celebrating the natural beauty that Mulanje has so that people appreciate what Malawi has”, Kwapata explained.
Activities include traditional dances and music performances, traditional food and drinks, storytelling and poetry, environmental awareness, sporting activities, kids corner, art exhibition and tourism fair, swimming, hiking, mountain climbing among others.
The event will be held under the Promoting youth involvement in tourism, reforestation and cultural arts for environmental sustainability.
Mobilization of resources for the event is underway.
