LILONGWE-BASED ORGANIZATION LAUNCHES PASS-ON INITIATIVE

Lilongwe-based youth oriented group, MY Community My Responsibility, has launched a special pass-on initiative aimed at empowering youths financially.

Through the initiative, the organisation is disbursing a minimum of K100,000 to a youthful entrepreneur who has presented a good business idea.

My Community My Responsibility Executive Director Brian Khembo has told ProjectM that the organisation hopes to empower 1,000 youthful entrepreneurs before the end of 2025.

“A lot of youths have good business ideas but lack capital to implement them and that’s why our organisation is here to answer that,” he said.

Prospective entrepreneurs submit their business proposals through the organisation’s Facebook (Meta) platform, of which the most voted idea is rewarded.

“We are urging youths to patronize our Facebook page and try their luck,” said Khembo.

The initiative has already benefited several youths since January 2024.

Ben Nyozani, one of the youths, who has benefited from the initiative has promised to utilize the money effectively by venturing into business.

“I have already set the foundation for my business and this money will help me to boost it,” he said.

Nyozani further implored youths in the country to consider venturing into entrepreneurship as one way of combating unemployment.

The National Youth Council of Malawi Director Rex Chaponda has commended the organisation for coming up with the initiative, saying it has the potential to change the plight of youths in the country.
