YOUNG INNOVATOR VENTURES INTO SOAP, LOTION MAKING

Lilongwe-based youthful innovator and entrepreneur Damson Chidothi has caught the attention of fellow youths after setting up a manufacturing company in soap and lotion production.

Chidothi’s company, Damdam products, is located in Mitundu on the outskirts of Lilongwe City.

He has told ProjectM in an interview that he decided to establish the company after undergoing manufacturing training from Project Innovation Centre (PIC).

“I was one of the individuals who took part in training exercises organised by PIC, I must say I have benefited a lot,” said Chidothi.

Currently, Damdam Products manufactures products such as Aloevera soap and Damdam washing soap.

The products are said to have benefits such as anti-aging properties, skin lightening and speeding up of hair growth, just to mention a few.

“We use ingredients like Lemon, Aloevera, Sunflower and other ingredients that have been biologically proven to contain various health benefits,” said Chidothi.

Damdam Products has already started supplying its products in various chain stores across Lilongwe, Dedza and Mozambique.

The company’s products have also received pre-certification from the Malawi Bureau of Standards.

Meanwhile, Chidothi has told ProjectM that his vision is to see his company dominate the local market before 2037.

Project Innovation Centre executive director Kondwani Kachamba Ngwira has since commended Chidothi for implementing what he was taught during training.
