CHIEFS URGED TO SUPPORT KACF IN NSANJE

Chiefs in Nsanje have been urged to support the Khulubvi Arts and Cultural Festival (KACF) as it promotes arts and culture of the people in the district.

Director of Mgomano wa Asena Nsanje Chapter Mary Antonio said this on Saturday during the 2024 Khulubvi Arts and Cultural Festival at Nsanje Prison ground.

She said time has come for the traditional leaders to patronise the arts and culture.

“Chiefs are the custodian of both people and culture; hence, the need for them to be on the forefront in the preservation of culture,” she said.

Antonio told ProjectM that during this year’s festival, people are going to taste traditional foods such as nyika, mpelere, mikate just to name but a few local foods.

The director also said children need to be reminded of their cluture.

Earlier, Coordinator for KACF Eric Trinta has hailed the companies for showing interest in this year’s festival.

He said they could not have managed organising the event on their own.

“Our sincere thanks to Chibuku Product Limited, Presscane Limited, TNM and Nyasa for the support,” said the coordinator.

This year’s festival is being held under the theme, “Shire Valley Time to Shire and Empower Our People.”
