NEEF DARES YOUTHS

The National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) has introduced a special loan facility called “Micro-Irrigation Loan” targeting youths who are ready to venture into agriculture.

NEEF says the loan facility has been designed to encourage youths to venture into entrepreneurship.

NEEF Chief Executive Officer Humphrey Mdyetseni has told ProjectM in an exclusive interview that the organization is hoping to see more youths venture into winter cropping.

“This facility is targeting farmers and youths who are ready to feed the nation through winter cropping while generating personal income in the process,” Mdyetseni said.

Currently, the organization has already disbursed 4 billion kwacha under the special facility.

“This 4 billion kwacha has been disbursed to over 1,000 farmers, including youth groups across the country,” said Mdyetseni.

The CEO has urged youths to come forward and apply for the loans, saying it is the organization’s wish to see youths benefiting from the initiative.

Meanwhile, youth activist Lucky Mbewe has thanked NEEF for coming up with the initiative, saying it will greatly uplift entreprenuership spirit among the youth.
