A Lilongwe-based company, Agritrust Limited has developed an irrigation system called “Drip Min Kit System” which is being touted as the most effective irrigation system compared to the traditional irrigation methods.
The system is made up of kits that optimise water usage and ensure efficient water use.
The company’s Executive Director Mvuyeni Nyasulu has told ProjectM in an interview that the system is capable of irrigating 100 stations with only 30 litres of water.
“This system allows a farmer to adjust water pressure while enjoying optimal water efficiency,” he said.
Compared to other systems of irrigation, Drip Min Kit System does not require power, allowing a user to irrigate crops without spending money on power.
“This system is also ideal for backyard farming, allowing town dwellers to water crops such as vegetables without worrying about water bills,” said Nyasulu.
Agritrust Limited manufactures and sells the system on an industrial scale in different volumes depending on the user’s preference.
Renowned agricultural expert Felix Jumbe has hailed the innovation, describing it as timely.
