At 66, Ireen Tembo a Blantyre based retired nurse who lost both her legs due to diabetes has endured tough times having lost her legs due to amputation.
The amputation is a result of a diabetes that she suffered from, that led to amputation of both her legs.
This has prompted philanthropist and wife business tycoon Triephonia Mpinganjira to buy a house for her.
Mpinganjira has provided the support through the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) Vice Chancellor Professor Address Malata and the National Organisation of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi (NONM).
The house is a three bedroom brick-fenced housed whose value is K30 Million in Chileka Airport.
Speaking in an interview Mpinganjira said she was moved to buy the house since she saw the state of the house Tembo was living in.
“I was really touched when I heard about her story and I felt moved to come in and bail her out of her situation”, she explained.
Tembo retired as a nurse in 2007 after working for various hospitals and has hailed Mpinganjira for the assistance.
