AFRICAN COUNTRIES URGED TO EMBRACE AFRICAN CULTURE

Amid calls for African countries to adopt school curriculums that conforms to the African way of living, an organisation called Ladder to Learning has vowed to continue amplifying the learning experience in public primary schools through Innovative after school programmes.

The organization has made the remarks as African countries were on Saturday 25 May 2024, celebrating Africa Day.

Ladder to Learning executive director Patience Khembo said there is a need for stakeholders to explore ways to complement the core curriculum in Malawi.

“As Ladder to Learning, we are doing our part in amplifying learning experience in public primary schools mainly in Lilongwe and we would love if stakeholders would do the same in some schools across the country,” said Khembo through the organization’s official Facebook page.

Currently, Ladder to Learning is working with learners from several schools in Lilongwe city including Biwi, Ngwenya and Kafulu primary schools teaching them smart ways of reading and writing.

“Our trainers are working tirelessly in shaping minds of learners in a bid to transform them into a reliable future leaders capable of uplifting African countries,” added Khembo.

The organization celebrated Africa day on Friday at a function which was held at its head offices in Lilongwe.

Africa Day (formerly African Freedom Day and African Liberation Day) is an annual commemoration of the formation of the organization of African Unity on 25 May 1963.

It is celebrated in various countries in Africa as well as around the globe.

This year, the day was being celebrated under the theme “Education fit for 21st Century”.

Various organisations, including ProjectM, held activities aimed at celebrating the day.
