LILONGWE-BASED YOUNG MAN CREATES INNOVATIVE ANIMATED CARTOON EXPLAINER VIDEO

Blessings Nachanje, a 30-year-old entrepreneur from Lilongwe, has created a groundbreaking 3D animated cartoon video to engage and educate audiences on critical issues affecting Malawi.

Nachanje, a graduate in Agriculture Extension from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), has developed a world-class 3D animation service that provides creative and informative explainer cartoon videos for farmers, contributing to the growth of the agriculture industry.

Nachanje, a talented animator and founder of BLENACK animation studio, shared his inspiration with ProjectM: “As a child, I was fascinated by cartoons, which sparked my creativity and motivation to pursue a career in animation. I established BLENACK to bring innovative ideas to life.”

The engaging cartoon animation video, produced in Chichewa, aims to transform people’s mindsets by encouraging them to cultivate profitable crops like vegetables instead of merely decorating their premises with flowers, thereby promoting agriculture and food security.

He said: “Extension workers can utilize our animated explainer cartoon videos to engage farmers in remote areas, leveraging smartphones to share valuable information and promote agriculture.”

Nachanje emphasized the versatility of his 3D animation services, which can be used to market products or services online, promote businesses, and more.

“In today’s digital age, the internet plays a vital role, and I encourage government institutions, private sector companies, and organizations to harness our animation explainer cartoon videos to disseminate information to rural communities. We can create customized animation services to meet their needs.”

Nachanje’s animated explainer cartoon videos have already reached an impressive 700,000 viewers in just one week, a testament to their impact.

However, he faces challenges, including limited resources and the need for heavy-duty computers, which are costly (K1.5 million).

He appeals for support from well-wishers to overcome these hurdles.

Currently, Nachanje’s company has employed five permanent staff members, and he envisions expanding his services to establish Malawi’s premier animation studio, competing globally.
