In a bid to help farmers overcome drought that has affected the 2023/2024 farming season, FIIG Energy Company has developed a solar generator capable of pumping underground water for irrigation.
The generator requires no fuel and is smoke-free, portable and noiseless.
FIIG Energy Company has developed the Genset with support from Farmers Voice Africa (FAVOA), an organisation which civic educate farmers on the need to adopt innovative ways of farming.
FAVOA president Brighton Jeremoti Zakaria has described the invention as a game changer, urging farmers to acquire the device.
“These gensets, which can be powered by solar panels making it possible for farmers to irrigate their crops comfortably,” he said.
ProjectM has also observed that the device can also power gadgets such as Refrigerators, Iron and other electric devices.
“As you can see, grid integration is very possible on this device and it has four output options; Direct current (DC), Alternating current (AC), 3 phase and USB option,” said Zacharia.
Additionally, farmers can also irrigate their crops even during the night as the device has a battery unit installed in it.
Elliott Tandani, a communication specialist and a long-time producer of radio agricultural programmes has described the invention as timely.
