TOURISM EXPO SUCCESS

Malawi Tourism Council has described this year’s 5th Takulandirani Malawi Tourism International Expo (MITE) as a success.

Speaking with ProjectM on Saturday, the last day of three-day expo, Memory Momba Kamthunzi, Executive Director for Malawi Tourism Council said operators came to showcase what they have.

“Starting from Thursday to Saturday people have showcased what they are offering and a lot of buyers came through needless to say we have achieved in this year’s MITE,” she said.

Kamthunzi, therefore, encouraged locals in the private sector to take advantage of the expo as it gives locals an opportunity to showcase products to international buyers.

“As a council we want to encourage you to this expo for those in the private sector because this is where we showcase local offerings almost every year,” she said.

Creative Director for Queen Tenge, a local designing company, Linda Zamaere, said the expo is a platform to network and meet potential customers.

“It’s always good to be part of such events because you network with other companies and potential clients which also increase brand awareness” She explained.

The last day was spiced up with performances from Kell Kay, Temwa, Bucci, among others.  Other activities included Sip and Paint, traditional dances and fashion shows. 

The forum provides a unique platform to potential investors and stakeholders in the tourism sector to explore the country’s vast opportunities. 

Tourism is one of the ATM (Agriculture, Tourism, Mining) strategies that the country is priotising to promote the country’s economy
